• Question: why are green eyes rare in humans?

      It’s all to do with genes and what you inherit from your parents. These genes are quite rare and also recessive.
      You inherits one gene from each parent for everything, one is dominant and one is recessive. The dominant gene will always show like black hair, the recessive gene will just be there. For the recessive gene to show you need to inherit a recessive gene from both your mum and dad. So if someone if ginger but their parents arnt it means both parents have the ginger recessive gene, but as black is more dominant they don’t have red hair. This is the same for eye colour.
      Green would be recessive over brown and blue is recessive over green.
