I decided to be a scientist 2 year after I finished school. I didn’t find science interesting when I was in school, as it seemed too ridgid and dusty. I did not see it as a creative subject. I was proved wrong when I started looking at what had been done previously with the brain. Everything about the brain seemed interesting, and I really wanted to know more about the brain. There is not enough information on the brain, so I decided I will find my answers myself.

I decided very early on, when I was about 5 years old. My aunt had just died of lung cancer and I was upset that there wasn’t more that could have been done. I wanted to be a researcher and find a cure. Lung cancer is still a very difficult to treat disease, but I hope that my contribution as a researcher will help bring new and better treatments.

Since I was very young, probably 6 or 7, I always liked the idea of becoming a scientist but I wasn’t sure if I actually would though. It was probably during my A levels that I actually decided that I wanted to do a science degree and then go on to be scientist.

I decided to be a scientist in my first year of uni when I was 20. I started my degree in film studies and decided I wanted to do something more science based- I found my biomedical science degree, read about what one does and it sounded pretty cool.
