There are many things you hear which get spread around the public about the brain. People say you only use 5% of it, which is untrue, you use a large quantity of the brain daily. That rumour can from the really early work which found that there are less neurones in the brain than other cells.
another rumour is the left or right brained rumour. Both sides of the brain are used in all people. This can be seen in split brain patients or in people who have one side of the brain removed. Another linked rumour is that one side of the brain is creative and the other is the worker. There are many patients which show this to be untrue. There are many more, I could practically write a book on all the false information out there.
