I think most of us do research.
In my case, it is not physically challenging, but it can be very mentally challenging. It is tiring, as you are constantly problem solving, improvising to adapt to changes in your experiments. It can require some waiting around, especially when tracking changes in tissues/cells over time.

Research in the lab can be a little physically challenging. There isn’t any heavy lifting, but there is a lot of repeating the same action over and over which can be tiring. The main strain is mentally, the hours are very long and you are constantly thinking about your work. There can be times when experiments aren’t working which can be very frustrating. It is worth it when they do work and you find out something really interesting that nobody knew before you.

      Hi Anna,

      Good Question.

My job responsibilities include: teaching, research and administration of the medical school.

As a teacher: I teach biochemistry for students of medical, dental, nursing and other health science disciplines.

As a Researcher: I work on my on going research projects on day-to-day basis

As Vice Principal (Administration): I have to supervise many administrative activities of the college, ex: Organizing a Lecture and a workshop
Finally, I am a teacher and researcher, teaching biochemistry to medical students, doing research on liver diseases in people who do not take any alcohol or little alcohol.

Yes, it is tiring one, mentally and physically but I love to do so and enjoy my work.

      what a great question!
My day starts with a 4 mile run into work- thats my only physically challenging part of the day!!
the rest is all mentally challanging- being intricate, precise and accurate. making sure tests are done carefully and correctly. ensuring a high standard of work for my patients.
In terms of “hard” – once you have done a job for a certain amount of years it become second nature, so its not hard as such but more tiring! But you have to put in the work to get the job done- sometimes I have to stay late to make sure all the work it out to the pathologists that day as in the private sector we have strict turn around times for our clients.
As a training officer the job can be very hard! I find it challenging and hard to teach new workers as each one has a different way they like to learn and differents levels of understanding- this is the hardest part of my job!
