      No questions are weird!
Mermaids also known as sirens are not real- but they stem from folk law from many different areas if the world like Ancient Greece, British pirates stories.
Although mammals such as whales and dolphins live in the sea, half human people do not. From an evolutionary point of view our arms would be useless to us and would have turned in to fins.
It’s a fun storey- but I think the old pirates that thought they saw them probably saw Sirenia (also known as sea cows!) and may have had a bit too much rum!!!
There is a condition known as sirenimelia where babies are born with their legs joined together- but unfortunately this is usually fatal as their kidneys and urinary organs do not function.

There have been cases of babies being born with their legs fused together which makes them look a bit like a mermaid.
