Heart diseases kill millions of people in the world each year. In order to save these peoples lives we need to develop a better understanding and better treatments. We are currently working on new treatments of a certain type of heart disease and if it works we will hopefully be able to cure lots of people.

Lung cancer is the the most common cause of death from cancer in the UK. It is a very aggressive form of cancer.
I hope that my work improves our understanding of lung cancer. This may lead to earlier diagnosis, a new drug or treatment that could save lives.

Conditions of the brain tend to be devastating, they can kill or they can leave you in a condition where you can’t live the way you were before. Obviously conditions like Alzheimers is worse for the families than the individual dying, as their loved one is still alive, but is lost to them.
I like to think my work does will not save lives but will improve the quality of life. If we can detect injuries/damage to the brain earlier we can keep that person around for a bit longer.
