Radiotheraphy is where doctors direct poweful Xrays at a cancer. These Xrays damage the DNA in cancer cells and this kills the cells. Normal cells around the cancer can also get some of these Xrays, but unlike the cancer cells, they can repair themselves.

It can be quite effective in treating cancer and is usually given alongside other treatments such as drug based chemotheraphy.
