If one of the main arteries is punctured then the blood leaks out of the hole. This reduces the bloody pressure and also reduces the amount of blood, this in turn means that the body can’t get the oxygen it needs. With no blood to carry oxygen we will die.
Arteries are really pressurised, so if one of the main ones get damaged you would have a large amount of blood loss, e.g. if you cut an artery in surgery you can get a blood spray all the way to the roof (which would be a nightmare to clean).
Puncture of artery is more uncomfortable than puncture of a vein. This is because arteries are deeper than veins. Arteries also have thicker walls and have more nerves.Blood in the arteries (arterial blood) differs from blood in the veins (venous blood) mainly in its content of dissolved gases.
Damaged arteries cannot deliver adequate blood flow to the body’s organs. The organs suffer because they do not receive a full supply of blood, which they depend on for oxygen and nutrients. So over time, not only are the arteries unable to function properly, but the organs can’t perform as they should either, finally leading to DEATH of the individual
