I believe killing animals for medical research is exceptable, as long as the animal was breed for the purpose. This is because overall the death of the animal is for a greater good. I do not believe in killing animals if it is not needed or if it is just for interest. If there was a way of working on the brain without killing an animal would be preferrable, however, in some cases you need to look at the healthy brain.

Scientists are always looking for ways to do experiments without using animals. But sometimes you need to use an animal for an experiment, in this case researchers are also trying to reduce the number of animals that need to be used and make the experiments better so that more information can be gained.
