If you shutdown “fracking” the following are the possible environmental impacts:

ground water contamination, methane greenhouse gas fugitive emissions, waste water handling, and even potential earthquakes.

Too much Farcking may causes: SEVERE EARTHQUAKES

Fracking refers to ‘Hydraulic fracturing’, and involves drilling and injecting fluid into the ground at a high pressure in order to fracture rock and release the natural gas inside. There are both advantages and disadvantages to fracking.
The advantages are that less carbon dioxide is produced, it is a cheaper source of energy and means that some countries will no longer be dependent on importing oil from other countries.
The disadvantages are that it consumes an huge amount of water, it can cause environmental and water contamination, methane gas release (which is worse for global warming than carbon dioxide) and may increase the probability of earthquakes.
