If you want to become a scientist like me- biomedical scientist you need to do science a levels, then go to uni and do an accredited course in biomedical science. You then can work in a lab and once you have done a years training you can be a scientist.
I would recommended reading up about all the different types of science and seeing which field interests you the most. Try and read and learn as much as you can about that subject. You do not have to learn about science only in lessons and lectures, if there’s things you want to know about you can look them up on the internet. When applying for university degrees they are more likely to accept someone who has a deep interest in the subject and if you know about things that you weren’t taught at school then this is a good way of proving that.
If you want to do science research then I would suggest working very hard at sciences at school – take as many science A Levels as you can e.g. Biology, Physics and Chemistry (Maths is very useful too). Read and write as much science as you can, this will be great practice and expand your knowledge. Then decide which area of science you really enjoy and chose a degree at university to take. It is important to chose a science area that you enjoy both reading and learning about as well as doing practicals in. If you can get some work experience with someone working in a lab while you are at school this would be really useful for applications etc. It will also help you to see if you really want to be a scientist working in a lab or not.
