We need food to give us the essential nutrients that our cells need to survive. Everyday our body uses up energy and we replace that energy by eating food.

Cells need energy, to make this we need carbohydrates which come from food. We also need animo acids from food – these are the building blocks of other proteins inside our cells.

We need to get energy from somewhere, and we can’t use sunlight like plants do. Therefore we have to eat other creatures to get the energy.
