• Question: Why do animals not get illnesses such as colds and flues?

      I think they do! they just cant tell you they are ill. A dogs nose is usually wet- a symptom of a dog being ill is if they have a dry nose.

      Animals can get flu. In fact birds and pigs commonly get flu. Pigs get symptoms like we do such as a running nose and sneezing/coughing.

      Swine (Pig) Flu was in the news a couple of years ago.
      There is always a chance that the flu could mutate and infect humans too. This is called Zoonosis and it is quite rare but has happened with both bird and pig flu.
