I don’t think this is true. People used to advise against sleeping in a room with plants because at night time plants use up oxygen and emit carbon dioxide. Sleeping in a room with another person is likely to use up more oxygen and produce more CO2 than a plant, so I don’t think there is anything to worry about when sleeping with a plant in the room.

Apparently this myth came about when hospitals used to remove flowers at night. People thought it used all the oxygen as plants do use a little at night, however, it was really to stop people knocking them over. I think it’s just a myth with a little science involved.
