Most people can live for years without getting cancer but overall there is a 1 in 3 chance that someone will get cancer in their lifetime. Some people can get more than one kind of cancer in their lifetime.

This all depends on if you are at risk of a certain kind of cancer for a genetic or lifestyle reason. Somethings will increase your risk of more than one type of cancer. For example, smoking will increase the chance of you getting a number of different cancers, including lung and throat cancer. There are genes in DNA of some people that can increase their risk of female cancers such as ovarian or breast cancer.

In your old age your risk of getting cancer increases a lot, therefore if you are old you will have a greater chance of getting cancer.
