Cancer is caused by mutations in our DNA causing our cells to replicate out of control. These mutations can either be inherited from our parents, can occur randomly or can be caused by environmental factors (such as smoking).

when a mutation or mistake occurs in our DNA our boday can usually kill to cell to stop it from dividing.
occationally though these cells can avoid our normal mechanisms. this allows the cancer cell to divide and then grow. as it divides more and more tumours are made- these tumours then try to spread to other organs.
you can get cancer from being genetically more prone to a type or from external factors like smoking or being in the sun too long.
